Stavros (Zorbas beach) – Lera Cave

Overview

Today you will take a day trip to Stavros, also known as Zorbas Beach, and Lera Cave which are two notable attractions located in the Akrotiri Peninsula near Chania, Crete.

Stavros is famous for its beautiful sandy beach, often referred to as Zorbas Beach due to its association with the famous film “Zorba the Greek.” The beach features crystal-clear turquoise waters and is surrounded by impressive rock formations, creating a scenic and picturesque setting. The beach offers various amenities for visitors, including sun loungers, umbrellas, and beachside tavernas where you can enjoy delicious Cretan cuisine.

Lera Cave is a natural limestone cave formed by geological processes over thousands of years. It is located within a beautiful gorge, surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation.

The cave is relatively small and can be accessed by walking through the gorge. It offers an opportunity for nature enthusiasts to admire the unique rock formations and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.
