Cooking Lessons – Cretan cuisine

Overview
Today you will have the chance to join at the Cretan Cooking Experience.
A Cretan Cooking Experience offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about and immerse yourself in the traditional cuisine of the island of Crete. Cretan cuisine is renowned for its use of fresh, local ingredients, including olive oil, vegetables, herbs, cheese, and seafood. Cretan dishes often feature herbs such as oregano, thyme, and rosemary, as well as unique ingredients like dakos (a type of rusk), staka (a traditional dairy product), and aromatic Cretan honey.
A Cretan Cooking Experience typically involves a hands-on cooking class led by a local chef or cooking instructor. Participants are provided with the necessary ingredients, utensils, and guidance to prepare traditional Cretan dishes from scratch.
The cooking class usually focuses on preparing a selection of traditional Cretan dishes. The menu may include popular dishes such as dakos (a Cretan salad with tomatoes, feta cheese, and rusks), gemista (stuffed vegetables), ntakos (another version of the Cretan rusk salad), or Cretan pies (such as kalitsounia). The recipes used during the class are often provided, allowing you to recreate the dishes at home.
